Men’s Bathing Suits

This article provides useful, detailed information about Men’s Bathing Suits.

Buying the right size, style and material for bathing suits is important, especially if you are a professional swimmer. There is a wide range of men\’s bathing suits to choose from, so it takes a little time to figure out the right type of bathing suit. Here are a few guidelines that may be able to help you decide what type of bathing suit would match your style and needs.

Before measuring yourself, don\’t forget to remove all your outer clothing. Stand in front of the mirror and make sure the measuring tape is not twisted. The tape should be secure but not too tight. Since the size of most men\’s bathing suits is based on waist measurement, you need to get this right. In order to do this, bend to one side to find your natural waistline. Then while standing straight, measure your waistline just above the hipbone or about an inch below your natural waistline. This should verify the right waist size before buying a bathing suit.

Decide carefully what type of bathing suit would be appropriate for your needs. For example, if you\’re into some serious water sports like surfing, get some board shorts. If you can afford it, try to go for high-quality sanded polyester coated with water repellent. The board shorts should also have reinforced stitching along seams and stress points.

If you\’re a competitive swimmer, high-performance bathing suits, with blends of nylon or spandex, such as Speedos and tight-fitting briefs, maximize speed in the water and improve glide times. For training, buy your normal size, but for competitions, buy a bathing suit at least one size smaller than your training suit. Also make sure the suit is equipped with flat and locked stitches in order to prevent drag and skin chaffing in the groin.

Men\’s bathing suits, like women\’s, are also available in various styles, designs and types though options are generally uniform in comparison.

Speedo, actually a swimsuit brand name, may be the most popular bathing suit for men. The name is now used as a generic term for any briefs-style male swimsuit. Speedos can be identified by the V-shape feature in the front and form-fitting solid back, and are mostly made of Lycra or spandex composite. They are typically worn below the lower waist, and are secured by a drawstring and thin banding at the upper thighs.

Board shorts are basically half length pants but normally longer than briefs, shorts, or Speedos styles. They may also have a baggy appearance and typically extends to the knee area or a little above it. They are popular, but not exclusively, for water sports such as surfing and wakeboarding. Maybe that\’s why they are called board shorts. The skater punk fashion of the 1990s and 2000s has also immensely popularized these pants.

Jammers are normally worn by professional swimmers which enable them to gain speed advantages because of its Lycra or spandex composite. They extend from the mid-waist to the area above the knee and have more water resistance than other types of men\’s swimwear.

Briefs are normally meant for men\’s underwear but they can also be used for bathing suits too. The reason behind the popularity of briefs lies in their practicality, which offers an almost parallel degree of support from jockstraps. So, many people find it comfortable to swim with briefs as bathing suits.

With many bathing suits to choose from in the market, it\’s worth taking the time to find the right style and size for you; a little time spent choosing will give you a lot of good use and enjoyment from your new bathing suit.

Pubic Hair Shave Methods

When it comes to hair removal for men or women, both must master the methods of shaving that wont damage skin or cause rashes or irritation as hair grows back. Depending on the thickness and coarseness of hair, most women who like to shave their pubic hair area, need to do so at least once a week. This much shaving can make for uncomfortable and just plain ugly breakouts if some simple steps or rules are not followed.

Tools for A Good Pubic Hair Shave

To get a clean shave and one that will last, start with the right razor. One that is too dull will grab delicate skin and cause nicks and cuts. One that does not pivot or move at all makes it difficult to get into creases as the top of the leg. Using a razor that is intended specifically for shaving pubic hair or for womens shaving in general will help.

Next make sure you use a moisturizing shaving crme or gel. This can be found in any cosmetic isle of any store. The foams or gels moisturize and also protect skin. Soap will not provide enough protection against the brutal razor.

Taking a Stance

How you stand to get a good pubic hair shave matters. Make sure your leg is up and spread enough to flatten the area at the top of the leg as much as possible. This makes it easier for the razor to go flat against the skin and reduces the risk of cuts. It also allows for a closer shave.

The Method

The method of shaving is important to reduce the chance of breakouts. Most people shave upward against the direction the hair grows because it feels a bit smoother when running the hand up against the hair growth. In reality they can get just as close a shave running the razor in a downward direction, with the growth of the hair. This is true for a mans face or for the pubic hair shave.

How Far to Go

How much hair is removed is a personal preference. Some women wearing the average swimsuit feel they only want and need to remove the edges of the pubic hair region. Others like to go as far as the Brazilian bikini wax and remove all but a small strip of hair. Whatever level of hair removal you decide upon, it is best to stick with a razors width. This allows for even long strokes and for the razor to go flat against the skin. Then if you want to remove more hair, go with another razors width worth.

Shaving Vs. Other Hair Removal Methods

A pubic hair shave has its advantages and disadvantages. It is first of all inexpensive and easy. It can be done quickly in the shower in the time it takes your hair conditioner to do its job. However, for those with the excessive hair growth called hirsutism or who want permanent hair removal there are longer lasting methods.

Waxing or sugaring offer longer lasting hair removal than shaving. They can be a little uncomfortable as hair is pulled from the root. Epilators also pull hair from the root, but also provide an electrical charge that kills the root. The process may need to be repeated a few times, but then the hair removal is permanent.

With any method of hair removal it is a good idea to wait 12-24 hours before tanning. Suntan creme and oils can irritate freshly shaved skin.

Pubic hair shaving can be a part of any womans health care or beauty routine and not take up too much time or money. Taking care of shaved skin is as important as any other part of a beauty or fitness routine.

Hair Removal by Waxing – Hot and Cold Waxes

Waxing is an effective method of removing large amounts of hair at one time. With hot waxing, a thin layer of heated wax is applied to the skin in the direction of the hair growth. The hair becomes embedded in the wax as it cools and hardens. The wax is then pulled off quickly in the opposite direction of the hair growth, taking the uprooted hair with it. Cold waxes work similarly. Strips precoated with wax are pressed on the skin in the direction of the hair growth and pulled off in the opposite direction. The strips come in different sizes for use on the eyebrows, upper lip, chin, and bikini area.

Waxing is a temporary method of hair removal which removes the hair at the root. New hairs do not grow back in the waxed area for three to eight weeks. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet’. But don’t be fooled into thinking that waxing is for women only. Today’s fashion trends have men waxing their bodies for cosmetic reasons, and many athletes such as bodybuilders and swimmers have been waxing for years.

The concept of waxing to remove bodily hair can be traced all the way back to ancient Egypt where the wives of Royalty and the well-to-do looked at hair removal as a way to remain young and forever beautiful. That concept continued throughout the world with the Greeks and Turks as well.

Most waxes are comprised of some proportional mixture of paraffin or beeswax, natural oils or fats, and a specially designed resin to help the wax adhere to the skin. Some brands of wax add Vitamin E or other supplements. If you think that you might want to try waxing, the first step, whether you are a male or female, is to decide if you want to use the ‘hot’ or ‘cold’ wax technique.

The hot wax method involves heating the wax to a comfortable temperature. A thin layer of wax is spread onto the area to be treated in the direction of the hair growth. Once the wax is cooled it is quickly torn off, in the opposite direction of the hair growth, and the hair is removed with it. With the cold wax process, strips of cloth are pre-coated with wax. You apply the strips to the area to be treated, rub the strips in the direction of hair growth, and then pull the strips off quickly in the opposite direction. Although hot waxing techniques are a bit more messy than cold wax ones, many people find that the hot wax gives better results.

Post Waxing Skin Treatment

You can apply a non-perfumed moisturizer to the treated area if you want to. Moisturizers that are fortified with Vitamin B and/or Aloe vera are also good. Avoid the following activities for at least 24 hours after waxing:

- Swimming

- Using a Spa or Hot Tub

- Sunbathing

- Applying perfume, aftershave or deodorant to the treated area

Always check to make sure that the hot wax is below scalding or burning temperature before applying. People with diabetes should consult a doctor before waxing. Never wax over sunburned skin or peeling skin, lesions or infections, moles, warts, skin abrasions, rashes, or varicose veins. Never wax the eyelashes, nose or ear hairs, nipple hair, or hair which is growing directly on the genitals (bikini area is okay). Waxing is a great solution for the temporary removal of unwanted hair if you’re tough enough to stand a little pain. Some hair removal experts recommend professional waxing for the best results.

Micro Bikini

First up, we’ll run through a short history of the bikini (no sniggering at the back, please) and see how we arrive at the micro bikini.

The two-piece swimsuit we know today as the bikini has only been marketed and sold as such for 60 years. But archaeologists have discovered Minoan wall paintings from 1600 B.C. and Roman mosaics from 300 A.D. that show the bikini, so the ancients were livin’ it up! Still, it is the debut of the modern bikini in 1946 and its later modifications that truly define the swimsuit.

The bikini was invented and launched by two French designers: Jacques Heim and Louis Reard. Heim was a swimsuit designer who had created a two-piece suit to be sold in his beach shop in Cannes. He marketed the swimsuit as the “atome,” (named for its small size and meant to be compared with the atom, the smallest particle of matter known). No doubt, it was an outrageously tiny swimsuit.

The same year, Reard was creating his own similar, two-piece swimsuit. He named and marketed his swimsuit as the bikini, claiming that it was “smaller than the smallest bathing suit in the world”. Reard christened his swimsuit the bikini in honor of experimental atomic bombs being detonated in the South Pacific, near the Bikini Reef.

So Reard’s name stuck, though by today’s standards, the bikinis of the 1940s and ’50s were positively modest in their coverage. Bottoms were cut above the navel, and tops fully covered the breasts.

Getting smaller by the year

The bikini went through several changes as time passed. Designers experimented with many varieties for the swimsuit, including a bikini top with attached propellers (!), a suit made entirely of red hair, and even a version made of porcupine quills.

As early as the 1950s, the bikini was already so small that it could be packed into a matchbook, but even more drastic shrinkage lay in store. In the 1970s, the sexual revolution in the United States caused designers to make the bikini even more revealing.

So we had string bikinis, which exposed the navel by fitting the bottoms on the hips. The top, too, provided only bra-style coverage. In the 1980s, the popular thong bikini arrived on the scene. Designers claimed the thong bikini originated from the clothing of Amazonian tribal groups in Brazil. As we know, the thong bikini leaves the bottom virtually uncovered and the back of the suit disappears into the buttocks.

Micro bikinis

In the 1990s and 2000s, designers have continued to revamp the bikini and innovated new styles. While the thong and string bikinis retain their popularity, the micro bikini has recently been added to the growing selection. Essentially, micro bikinis are bikinis combining a micro bikini top and a thong bikini bottom. Needless to add, it is scantier and more revealing than traditional bikinis and hence its name. Buying micro bikinis

A word of warning: you need to be careful that you don’t opt for a string bikini when you mean to buy a micro bikini. There are enough illustrated examples online to show you the difference.

Numerous sites offer essential advice like how to shave your bikini line (hairy exposures will NOT do). Make sure your pubic area in particular is well shorn.

Choose the fabric well. Test your skin for itches and allergic rashes, particularly since you will be spending a lot of time in the sun wearing your bikini

Have plenty of sunscreen handy. You need to use liberal doses all over your body since you obviously will not have much on in terms of protection from the sun’s rays!

Happy bathing!
